Riley Payne is a self-taught artist who makes detailed graphite and coloured pencil drawings that explore the organization of everyday, mundane information. Through the addition of text or re-drawn sculptural elements, Payne’s drawings acknowledge the technical merits of photorealism, while also negating any purely formal reading of the work. Exhibitions include “Leisure Time” at Ed Varie (New York), “John Kleckner & Riley Payne” at Tristian Koenig (Melbourne), “Mad Deep Thoughts” exhibition & book launch at Kalimanrawlins (Melbourne), and “Drunk vs Stoned III” at Neon Parc (Melbourne). Payne is currently based in Melbourne, Australia.
